Waradene Alpacas

Waradene Alpacas was established in July 2003, but the stud name has been around since the 60s when we bred stud dairy cattle. Sometimes it’s spelt Warradene with two r’s by others, but it’s only ever been Waradene with one r for us!

So, as former dairy farmers, we decided to embark on an alternative farming venture. Our first purchase was a guardian wether. We then decided that we loved the alpaca nature, that we would purchase females for breeding. We have had so much fun with showing and breeding, receiving several wins from our alpacas, including Reserve Champion Intermediate Female at Hamilton 2005, Junior Champion Male at Hamilton 2006, and Junior Champion Female at Mt Pleasant 2007.

Our farmAll our family is involved with the alpacas, with 3 of our children being awarded Champion Junior Handler in the 6-10 years division and 11-15 years division, with our eldest daughter being awarded overall Champion Handler.

We are situated on reclaimed swamp lands of the River Murray, approximately 10km south of Murray Bridge, heading towards Jervois.
